Model Overview

The Changan CS75 is a compact SUV from Changan Automobile, first debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2013 and officially launched in April 2014. As a core sales pillar of Changan's SUV lineup, the model swiftly captured the market upon its debut courtesy of its rugged styling and generous cabin space. Having undergone multiple iterations over the years, its cumulative sales have surpassed the one-million-unit milestone.

The moniker "CS75 FL" denotes the mid-lifecycle facelift introduced in 2018, encompassing the subsequent 2023, 2024, and 2025 model-year iterations, the 2025 CS75 Pro, as well as the latest 2026 PRO series. In overseas markets, the CS75 lineup focuses on key export regions including South America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Russia. Since the rollout of the "Vast Ocean" global expansion strategy in 2023, Changan has established 22 overseas manufacturing bases, with its footprint spanning 118 countries and regions. Key domestic rivals include mainstream compact SUVs such as the Haval H6, Geely Boyue, BYD Song Pro, and Chery Tiggo 7. The 2026 PRO range is priced between RM97,900 and RM110,900, offering both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations.

Design Language

Following its 2018 mid-life facelift, the CS75 adopted Changan's signature "butterfly-wing" front fascia, pairing an expansive smoked grille with sharp LED headlamps, while the full-width lower bumper intake visually broadens the vehicle's front stance. The side profile retains its classic dual shoulder lines, complemented by new twin-five-spoke alloy wheels and a floating roof treatment at the D-pillar. The rear comes standard with full-width LED taillights and dual exhaust garnish.

In terms of dimensions, the facelifted model measures 4,650 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, and 1,705–1,715 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. Meanwhile, tailored to meet the demands of family buyers, the 2026 CS75 PRO grows further to 4,742 mm in length, 1,870 mm in width, and 1,720 mm in height, riding on an extended 2,786 mm wheelbase, placing its cabin space among the leaders in its segment.

The cabin has been comprehensively revamped, moving away from utilitarian hard plastics in favour of soft-touch slush-moulded materials across the dashboard and door cards, complete with neat contrast stitching. The centre console features a floating touchscreen display, available in 7-inch or 10-inch configurations depending on the variant. A flat-bottom three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and an LCD digital instrument cluster are standard fitments across the range.

Powertrain and Performance

The CS75 is offered in both 5-seater and 7-seater seating layouts across the range. The primary powertrain for the facelifted lineup is the next-generation Blue Whale NE1.5T high-pressure direct-injection turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. The latest 2025 and 2026 models feature the updated JL473ZQD 1.5T unit, bumping maximum output to 141 kW (approx. 192 PS) and peak torque to 310 N·m. The 2024 and 2025 PRO variants utilise the JL473ZQ7 engine, producing 138 kW (188 PS) and 300 N·m of torque.

Power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT) in a front-wheel-drive (FWD) configuration. The 0–100 km/h sprint is dispatched in 8.4 seconds, on to a top speed of 190 km/h. WLTC combined fuel consumption is rated at 6.6–7.75 L/100km, with this commendable fuel efficiency providing solid backing for its consistent monthly sales run-rate of 15,000 to 20,000 units.

In global markets, the CS75 Plus is primarily exported to the Middle East, Russia, and Southeast Asia, where select top-spec export variants are equipped with a 2.0T engine paired with an Aisin 8-speed automatic gearbox to meet local performance expectations.

Chassis and Handling

Underneath, the CS75 adopts a chassis setup featuring front MacPherson independent suspension and a rear multi-link independent suspension across all variants. The rear multi-link setup is a high-grade specification for compact SUVs in this price tier, effectively ironing out road imperfections and keeping rear axle hop in check. Electric Power Steering (EPS) comes standard, while braking is handled by front ventilated discs and rear solid discs, supported by an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold. Wheel choices include 17-inch, 18-inch, and 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in tyres ranging from 225/65 R17 to 225/55 R19.

Cabin and Equipment

On the in-car tech front, the CS75 is equipped with a standard 10-inch central touchscreen running Changan's incall intelligent infotainment system, supporting Bluetooth, USB, Wi-Fi, and smartphone connectivity. Higher-spec variants add a 360-degree panoramic camera, a panoramic sunroof, and an electrically adjustable driver's seat. From the 2024 model year onwards, mainstream variants feature telematics functions, allowing users to remotely start the engine, lock/unlock doors, pre-condition the air conditioning, and check vehicle health status via a dedicated mobile app.

Seating is trimmed in synthetic leather as standard, with 6-way manual adjustment (powered adjustment for the driver on higher trims). The 7-seater model features a 2+3+2 layout, with second-row seats offering fore-and-aft sliding and backrest angle adjustment, while the third row accommodates occasional short-distance journeys. Boot volume stands at 520 litres in standard guise, expandable to 1,490 litres with the split-folding second-row seats folded down. Other notable equipment includes dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air-con vents, keyless entry, and push-start ignition, reflecting a strong emphasis on everyday practicality.

Safety and Intelligent Driving

In terms of passive safety, the CS75 is built around a high-strength safety cage structure, utilising 1,500 MPa hot-formed ultra-high-strength steel in critical areas. Front dual airbags, front side airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags are standard across the range, alongside ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Traction Control System (TCS), and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). A Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), reverse camera, and rear parking sensors are also standard across all variants.

For active safety and driver assistance, mid-to-high-spec CS75 models come equipped with Level 2 ADAS features, comprising Full-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Forward Collision Warning. The 2025 Pro and 2026 PRO series further incorporate a 360° surround-view monitor with a transparent chassis function, alongside an optional 540° panoramic view, significantly enhancing driver situational awareness during low-speed manoeuvres and tight parking scenarios.

Market Performance and Reception

The market performance of the CS75 series stands as a benchmark success story among Chinese SUV nameplates. Over the 23-month span from January 2024 to November 2025, cumulative sales of the model family reached approximately 381,453 units, maintaining a consistent monthly volume of 15,000 to 20,000 units to stand out as the most reliable sales pillar in Changan's lineup. In 2025, the CS75 Plus recorded total annual sales of 175,597 units, firmly cementing its front-runner position in the compact SUV segment. The lineup's triple value formula of "generous space, Blue Whale powertrain, and competitive pricing" continues to anchor Changan's core presence in the compact SUV segment.

On the global front, overseas shipments of the CS75 series account for over 30% of Changan Automobile's total export volume. In 2025, Changan's total overseas sales hit 637,000 units, marking a year-on-year growth of nearly 19%. The export-spec CS75 Plus is produced locally at the Rayong manufacturing plant in Thailand, supplying Southeast Asian and right-hand-drive (RHD) markets, while localized assembly hubs in South America and the Middle East continue to reinforce the CS75 series' footprint across emerging global markets. Media and owners alike widely praise the CS75 series for its class-leading interior space, smooth power delivery, and frugal fuel economy, continuing to appeal to family buyers and individual motorists in the RM100,000 compact SUV segment as a mature, dependable, and well-rounded package. Minor drawbacks noted include brand equity relative to established joint-venture rivals and the update cycle of its smart digital features, both of which remain key focus areas for upcoming mid-to-long-term product revisions.
